EURO 2020: FINLAND AND BELGIUM VICTORIOUS, WALES AND SWITZERLAND SHARE A POINT EACH

Chatara, Three matches took place last night with Wales taking on Switzerland in the first match. Switzerland were all over Wales as they maintained 62% of the possession with 18 shots out of which 4 shots on target throughout the game.

Embolo opened the scoring for Switzerland in 49^th minute of the game with an assist from Shaqiri. Although they maintained the possession, they were unable to hold back and defend the Wales attack as Kieffer Moore scored a header from the corner kick in 74^th minute to settle the scoring to 1-1. With this draw, Switzerland and Wales shared a point each and sit on 2^nd and 3^rd place respectively in group A with Italy on top and Turkey on Bottom.

The second match between Denmark and Finland was emotional as Danish International and Inter Milan’s midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field just before first half and was taken to hospital so the match was suspended for a while.

UEFA confirmed that the players from both teams requested to complete the remaining match, so the match was resumed after some time with the remaining five minutes of the first half being played.

Finland took the lead in the 58^th minute when Bayer Leverkusen forward Joel Pohjanpalo headed past Kasper Schmeichel. Denmark were awarded a penalty in the 74^th minute but the spot kick was saved by the Finland goalkeeper which was taken by Hojbjerg.

In the last match of the night, Belgium outplayed Russia with 3-0 scoreline where Romelo Lukaku scored brace. Belgium scored the opener in 10^th minute of the game with a strike from Lukaku. Meunier doubled the lead on 34^th minute of the game and provided an assist on 88^th minute of the game to Lukaku who make the scoreline 3-0.

With this result, Belgium tops the group B whereas Finland is on 2^nd place and Denmark and Russia on 3^rd and 4^th respectively.
