FIRMINO BRACE KEEP LIVERPOOL CHAMPIONS LEAGUE HOPE ALIVE

Itahari, Brace from Roberto Firmino helped Liverpool to a thrilling win over Manchester United that boosts their top-four hopes alive.

Manchester United, who hosted Liverpool on Old Trafford, opened the scoring on the 10^th minute of the game with a shot from Bruno Fernandes that deflected in off Nathaniel Phillips.

Liverpool were awarded a penalty when Eric Bailly challenged Phillips but that was overturned by a VAR review but they levelled through Portugese International Diogo Jota's cute backheel on 34^th minute which was assisted by Nathaniel Phillips.

Firmino put the Reds in front for the first time in first-half stoppage time before the Brazilian netted his second, and Liverpool's third, only two minutes after the break.

United’s Marcus Rashford strike went past Allison which made the scoreline 2-3 on 68^th minute to set up an exciting finish to the game.

Two efforts from Mason Greenwood were blocked on Liverpool's line in quick succession, while Fernandes shot fired over, before Mohamed Salah scored fourth for Liverpool in added time to seal the win with his 21st goal of the season. He is now level with Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot.

With this result, Manchester United are on second place with 70 points whereas Liverpool move up to fifth place with 60 points, four points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
