BARCELONA AND ATHLETICO MADRID 0-0 DRAW: CELEBRATED BY REAL MADRID

Itahari, Barcelona were dealt a big blow to their chances of winning La Liga with a 0-0 draw against Atlético Madrid on Saturday. Atletico Madrid remain two points clear at the top of La Liga but their draw at Barcelona means rival Real Madrid now hold the advantage in the title race.

Barcelona struggled to break their visitors down and sit two points behind Atletico with three games remaining. Lionel Messi looked most likely to make something happen for the hosts and forced Jan Oblak into a diving save after a gliding run across the top of the box. But the visitors created the better chances in the first half and Luis Suarez saw his strike well saved by Marc-Andre Ter Stegen at the near post.

The absolute best chance of the game came with five minutes to go when Jordi Alba played a perfect cross to find Ousmane Dembélé all alone for a free header inside the six-yard box, but the Frenchman headed the ball over the bar and wasted a golden opportunity.

There was a free-kick in the 90th minute that Lionel Messi just missed, with the ball going agonizingly wide of the top corner. The final whistle came, and Barça’s season is almost over barring a miracle.

Real Madrid are currently on third position with 74 points who will be playing fourth place Sevilla tonight. That game will be crucial in the Laliga title race for this season. If Real Madrid be able to secure all 3 points against Sevilla, then they will be the favourite to win this season’s Laliga. But if Sevilla manage to win against Madrid, then we will have to wait till matchweek 38 to see the champion as all four teams have clear chance for the title.
